Evenflo Johnny Jump Up?

I just bought a secondhand johnny jump up for my 8 month old and he likes it, the only doorway besides my bedroom and bathroom that it will work on is my living room/foyer one- which is fine but it's SUPER wide. Basically i snapped my finger in the little clamp things but finally got it secured on both sides of the doorway so it fits but is super tight. Is this safe?? Should i be worried about it collapsing and him falling out?? Anyone else use one of these with a huge doorway?? Thanks.
