Why do far away countries in the ME garner so much media attention, but Mexico on our doorstep does not?

Mostly because it's to close to home.We have all kind of problem in this country,yet we select to go thousands of miles to try to solve their problems.The politicians know we have problems here,but due to PC they would rather turn a blind eye to it and stick their nose into the middle east where those people only want to be left alone,and want the foreigners to go home.
